The Territory Wildlife Park Gets A New Playground
The Territory Wildlife Park is located 45 minutes from Darwin city and offers an up-close, wildlife experience, seeing the animals in their natural habitats. You meet them walking through the tree top aviaries, strolling around a natural lagoon and even get to interact with them during daily presentations. The Park offers a great experience for the whole family.
In early February, the Territory Wildlife Park released a tender to develop a new playground at their visitor centre that would keep their littlest visitors busy while Mum and Dad sipped coffee in the shaded area. The Land Development Corporation donated a range of concrete pipes that were surplus, for the little ones to crawl through or climb over.
The playground will be nature-based mega-fauna themed, with exciting things for little bodies to climb and explore, for young eyes to discover and fingers to touch. There will be tactile and colourful mosaics, a sandpit with dinosaur bones to dig up, colour painting on the concrete pipes for climbing and crawling, a hill made of stepped tyres, piles of rocks for climbing and balancing, and a cubby house made from local ironwood.
The Territory Wildlife Parks, Horticulture Officer has been planting some terrific plants to add a ‘dinosaur’ type atmosphere such as giant cycads.
We would like to say a big thank you to the team at East Arm Civil, who kindly offered the collection and drop off of the pipes to the Territory Wildlife Park – You guys made the process seamless and efficient! East Arm Civil deliver a broad range of services in the civil and infrastructure sectors.
Make sure you head to the Territory Wildlife Park and check out all the animals and the new playground which will be completed in June 2020! We can’t wait!
